Original Article: Clay Rice, silhouette artist and author, at Creative Kidstuff November 2-4
Mon, 2009-11-02 (All day)Wed, 2009-11-04 (All day)

Clay Rice is a modern day silhouette artist. For more than 30 years, Rice has cut stunningly accurate silhouettes of children across the United States. Clay simply positions a child in front of a screen and light, then skillfully cuts a likeness using the tiny pair of scissors that his grandfather purchased at a dime store in 1930.

The Lonely Shadow is the latest book from Clay Rice that follows a shadow who longs for a companion and his search to find a lasting friend. This beautifully crafted story is enhanced by the intricate silhouettes that illustrate each page.

Clay Rice will be at these locations:
• Monday November 2, 10am-6pm Maple Grove Store
• Tuesday November 3, 10am-6pm St. Paul Store
• Wednesday November 4, 10am-6pm Galleria Store

Pricing: $40 per person for 2 copies & $10 for each additional copy. Silhouette and Lonely Shadow Package is $60 per person for 2 copies of the same person, copy of Lonely Shadow and additional copy for back of book.

I simply want to live in the place with the best food in the world. This dream led Eric Dregni from Minnesota to Italy, first to Milan and eventually to a small, fog-covered town to the north: Modena, the birthplace of balsamic vinegar, Ferrari, and Luciano Pavarotti. Never Trust a Thin Cook is a classic American abroad tale, brimming with adventures both expected and unexpected, awkward social moments, and most important, very good food.
